In a heartwarming development, the song “Chinna Chinna Kangal” from Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘GOAT’ has touched the hearts of music enthusiasts. What makes this rendition even more special is that it features the soulful voice of the late singer Bhavatharini, thanks to Krishna Chetan’s innovative start-up, Timeless Voices.
Music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, Bhavatharini’s brother, collaborated with Krishna Chetan’s Timeless Voices to bring back her voice using cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. This remarkable feat follows a similar success story when A R Rahman and Krishna Chetan utilized the voices of late singers Shahul Hameed and Bamba Bakya for the powerful song “Thimiri Ezhuda” in the film “Lal Salaam.”
Krishna Chetan, an award-winning music producer and mixing engineer, worked diligently with his team to extract samples of Bhavatharini’s voice from Yuvan Shankar Raja’s office. Over three days, they harnessed AI to seamlessly integrate her vocals into “Chinna Chinna Kangal,” creating a moving tribute to the singer.
Krishna Chetan’s Timeless Voices aims to preserve the voices of legendary artists, allowing them to live on through AI-generated models. By ethically training these models from high-fidelity studio recordings, Timeless Voices empowers creators to access top-notch vocals. Singers can retain their unique timbre as a time capsule, while actors can dub in multiple languages. Up-and-coming artists can connect with global music producers and composers, fostering a vibrant artistic community.
Krishna Chetan’s commitment to artist rights and support underscores the “Artiste First” approach at Timeless Voices. As the startup continues to revive voices, including those of late actors Vivekh and Manobala for the film “Indian 2,” the music industry celebrates this harmonious blend of tradition and technology.
