Director Nelson Dilipkumar, known for his box office hits, recently shared insights about the inspiration behind Nayanthara’s character in his directorial debut, Kolamaavu Kokila (2018). The film, which starred Nayanthara as the lead, received critical acclaim for its unique storyline and performances.
In an exclusive interview, Nelson revealed that he had initially considered Alia Bhatt to play Nayanthara’s character in the Hindi version of the movie. However, due to his existing commitments, the collaboration didn’t materialize. Nelson expressed his interest in directing a female-centric story in the future, with plans to shoot it in both Tamil and Hindi to cater to diverse audiences.
Kolamaavu Kokila revolves around Kokila (played by Nayanthara), the elder daughter in a family that faces financial struggles. Despite her innocent appearance, Kokila is resourceful and determined. She becomes involved in drug peddling to support her family, showcasing how appearances can be deceptive. Nayanthara’s portrayal of Kokila received widespread appreciation, and her performance added depth to the character.
While Alia Bhatt didn’t ultimately play the role, the idea of her stepping into Nayanthara’s shoes adds an interesting twist to the film’s hypothetical Hindi adaptation. Fans can only imagine how Alia would have brought her own charm and intensity to the character.
As Nelson continues to make waves in the industry, we eagerly await his next project—a female-centric story that promises to captivate audiences across languages. Whether it’s Alia Bhatt or another talented actor, the prospect of a Hindi version of Kolamaavu Kokila remains intriguing.
