The audio launch of Ashok Selvan’s latest film, ‘Emakku Thozhil Romance,’ took an unexpected turn when the lead actor was notably absent. Producer Thirumalai did not hold back as he recounted the numerous challenges faced since casting Ashok Selvan as the protagonist. Initially signed for a salary of Rs. 31 Lakhs, Selvan’s current demand has skyrocketed to around Rs. 2 Crores.
Thirumalai revealed that despite Selvan’s initial enthusiasm for the script, his attitude has caused significant strain on the production team. The actor’s insistence on settling his pending salary before dubbing further complicated matters. Thirumalai emphasized that any future increase in Ashok Selvan’s salary would be due to the director’s efforts.
The producer also highlighted the importance of actors participating in promotional activities, citing the dedication of stars like ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth, ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay, and Dhanush. He stressed that without producers, there would be no actors or cinema. Director R.K. Selvamani echoed Thirumalai’s sentiments, praising the film’s trailer and urging for contractual clauses to ensure actors’ participation in promotions.
The controversy has cast a shadow over the film’s release, with both Thirumalai and director K. Rajan condemning Ashok Selvan and co-star Avantika for their lack of involvement in promotional activities. The success of ‘Emakku Thozhil Romance’ at the box office will determine if the strained relationship between the producer and the actor can be mended.
