At a recent event in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, actor Suriya confirmed the postponement of his highly anticipated film ‘Kanguva,’ a decision that has resonated positively with both his fans and the film industry. The movie, directed by Siruthai Siva, was initially set for release on October 10. However, Suriya chose to defer the release to allow ‘Vettaiyan,’ starring the iconic Rajinikanth, to have an exclusive release on that date.
Suriya made this announcement during the audio launch of his brother Karthi’s film ‘Meiyazhagan,’ where he expressed his decision with a tone of humility and deep respect for Rajinikanth’s legacy. Suriya acknowledged the extensive efforts of the ‘Kanguva’ team, which involved more than 1000 individuals working for over two and a half years. Despite the hard work invested, he emphasized the importance of giving priority to Rajinikanth’s film, recognizing the veteran actor’s significant contributions to Tamil cinema.
“On October 10, ‘Vettaiyan’ is scheduled for release, and it’s only right that we allow it to have the spotlight,” Suriya remarked, underscoring the respect he holds for Rajinikanth, a figure who has been a cornerstone of the Tamil film industry for over five decades. Suriya noted that Rajinikanth began his acting career around the time he was born, highlighting the generational gap and the admiration he has for the Superstar’s enduring influence.
Suriya’s decision to delay ‘Kanguva’ is seen as a considerate move, reflecting his respect for Rajinikanth’s standing in the industry. He appealed to his supporters, asking them to understand and support the decision, likening the film’s eventual release to a celebration that will be worth the wait.
‘Kanguva,’ a historical drama led by Suriya, has been in development for more than two years. The film, which boasts a significant budget and an expansive scale, was originally planned for a major release in multiple languages. Despite the postponement, there is considerable excitement surrounding the film, especially following the positive reception of its trailer.
The movie features an impressive cast, including Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, and Yogi Babu. It is produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad, cinematography by Vetri Palanisamy, and editing by Nishadh Yusuf.
While the new release date for ‘Kanguva’ has yet to be announced, anticipation remains high. Suriya’s respectful gesture has been widely appreciated and has set a strong example of how industry peers can support one another, even in a competitive landscape. His actions have reaffirmed his reputation as one of Tamil cinema’s most respected and admired actors.
