Netflix has officially secured the streaming rights to The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu and featuring Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay. Originally released in theaters on September 5, 2024, the much-anticipated film is set to be available for streaming on Netflix starting October 3. Adding to the excitement, the platform will also release a special director’s cut with additional scenes, offering a fresh perspective for fans and viewers alike.

The film, produced by AGS Entertainment, stars Vijay in the lead role and features a stellar ensemble cast, including Prabhudheva, Prashanth, Sneha, and Laila. GOAT follows the story of a retired RAW agent, portrayed by Vijay, who is thrust back into the world of espionage as enemies from his past threaten his peaceful life. Packed with suspense and action, the film keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, with Venkat Prabhu urging viewers to avoid spoilers and preserve the film’s surprises for others.

Though Netflix has yet to make an official confirmation, reports of the digital release have already sparked a buzz. During the promotional tour for the movie, Venkat Prabhu delighted fans by revealing that the director’s cut will feature approximately 20 to 40 minutes of previously deleted scenes. This extended version promises to delve deeper into the film’s intricate plot and character arcs, providing viewers with a more enriched experience.

GOAT has been a commercial success, earning around Rs 244.50 crore (India net) within its first 19 days of release, according to box office tracker Sacnilk. The film’s impressive performance is a testament to the massive popularity of Thalapathy Vijay, whose fanbase spans across the globe. The Tamil Nadu government even authorized special early morning shows of the film on its release days, September 5 and 6, underscoring the immense demand and enthusiasm for Vijay’s films.

Interestingly, GOAT also marks Vijay’s first major project since announcing his entry into politics. His newly founded political party, Thamaizhaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), aims to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The film’s success serves as a reminder of his widespread appeal, both as a film star and a rising political figure.

As anticipation builds for GOAT’s streaming release on Netflix, Vijay’s fans are also eagerly looking ahead to his next project, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, the film is slated for an October 2025 release and will be available in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The soundtrack, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is expected to further amplify excitement around the project. Although details about the storyline remain scarce, the announcement of Thalapathy 69 has already generated significant social media buzz, with fans waiting anxiously for more updates.

With GOAT making its way to Netflix, the platform is poised to attract an immense viewership, thanks to Vijay’s loyal fanbase. Whether revisiting the film or watching it for the first time, viewers will soon have the chance to enjoy the action-packed thriller along with the highly anticipated director’s cut.
