Singham Again Movie Review: Mythology Meets Chaos in Shetty’s Cop Universe

Cinema Spice Magazine Post Square Thumbnails 2 (8)

Rohit Shetty’s latest action spectacle, “Singham Again,” brings back Ajay Devgn as the no-nonsense Bajirao Singham in a tale that merges Bollywood’s cop universe with mythological nods to the Ramayana. Despite the grand ambitions and a cast full of top-tier stars, the film ultimately suffers from recycled formulas and a superficial narrative that makes it feel stale from the outset.

Despite being the fifth installment in Shetty’s Cop Universe, the novelty has all but faded. Shetty’s attempt to weave elements of the Ramayana into the storyline lacks the finesse and conviction needed to make it a compelling retelling. By the interval, the film drags under the weight of forced patriotism and a script stitched together with action sequences that feel excessive rather than exhilarating.

The promise of an all-star cast – including Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, and Deepika Padukone – feels wasted as the actors struggle against a screenplay built more around spectacle than substance. Ranveer Singh’s comedic energy does stand out, lending the film brief moments of life and levity. However, these fleeting moments of charm are overshadowed by a chaotic first half and a narrative that feels like a promotional ad rather than a cohesive story.

While action aficionados may enjoy the relentless pace and Shetty’s signature slow-motion set pieces, Singham Again lacks the depth and coherence that could have made it resonate with a broader audience. The plot remains disappointingly shallow, and the overreliance on stereotypes and predictable character arcs renders it lifeless. For fans of mindless action, Singham Again might satisfy, but those looking for something more will be left disappointed.
