A Star-Studded Beginning in the Heart of Chennai
In a grand spectacle that reminded many of the golden era of film events, the official launch of the upcoming Tamil feature ‘Texla’ was held at a prestigious star hotel in Chennai on March 6, 2026. Directed by the visionary Aishwarya Rajinikanth and produced by the prolific Kannan Ravi under the Kannan Ravi Group banner, the event served as a monumental kick-off for what is already being touted as one of the most anticipated projects of the year.
The film features an eclectic and talented cast led by Jai and the versatile National Award winner Suraj Venjaramoodu. Supporting them is a robust ensemble including Anand Raj, G.M. Sundar, and George Marian. Adding musical soul to the project is the “Little Maestro” Yuvan Shankar Raja, ensuring that ‘Texla’ is backed by top-tier technical prowess.
The Who’s Who of Kollywood Graces the Occasion
The venue was buzzing with the presence of industry titans and political figures. Among the chief guests were Seeman (Chief Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi), Latha Rajinikanth, veteran producer R.B. Choudary, acclaimed director Bala, and sensational composer Anirudh Ravichander. They were joined by producers Sujatha Vijayakumar, G.K.M. Tamil Kumaran, and Amma Creations Siva, creating an atmosphere of immense support and camaraderie for the ‘Texla’ team.
Kannan Ravi: A Producer with a Vision and a Heart
Producer Kannan Ravi, known for his massive footprint in the industry, spoke with uncharacteristic humility. Despite backing sixteen simultaneous projects, Ravi described himself as a “student” in the world of cinema.
“In business, I might speak with a certain level of pride, but in cinema, I am still in LKG,” Ravi remarked. “I feel blessed to collaborate with the family of Tamil Nadu’s Superstar. Aishwarya Rajinikanth is not just talented; her kindness and warmth are truly inspiring.”
He also expressed his long-standing desire to work with Suraj Venjaramoodu, noting that after missing out on eight previous opportunities, ‘Texla’ finally brought them together.
Voices of Support: Seeman, Bala, and Samuthirakani
The guest speakers highlighted the scale of the production and the character of the producer. Seeman praised Ravi’s “immense love for cinema,” noting that producing 16 films at once is a testament to his courage. Director Bala seconded this, emphasizing that by producing so many films, Ravi is providing a livelihood for hundreds of families.
Actor-director Samuthirakani shared a personal anecdote about the producer’s philanthropy:
“He told me he sets aside a portion of his earnings specifically to give back to others. For a heart like that, he deserves to produce hundreds of films.”
The Leads Speak: A Journey of Trust
For Jai, ‘Texla’ represents a significant turning point. He revealed that he had initially hesitated to work with Kannan Ravi two years ago, feeling he wasn’t “ready.” However, the producer’s unwavering faith changed his mind.
“He told me, ‘Let your growth happen through my film.’ That kind of confidence is rare. I will give my absolute everything to this project,” Jai stated emotionally.
Suraj Venjaramoodu, making a significant mark in Tamil cinema, praised the compelling script and the hospitality of the production house. Aishwarya Rajinikanth concluded the speeches by thanking the team for their trust, promising a dedicated effort to bring a high-quality cinematic experience to the audience.
