It’s official: August 14, 2025, isn’t just a release date – it’s a holiday in the Rajini calendar.
As Superstar Rajinikanth gears up to storm theatres with Coolie, the frenzy has spilled far beyond cinema halls. Fans across India – and even in Singapore – are witnessing something never seen before: companies shutting down, work schedules being rearranged, and bosses themselves handing out movie tickets. All this, to make sure no Thalaivar fan misses the FDFS magic.
In Singapore, the celebration is already legendary. Farmer Constructions PTE Ltd announced a paid holiday for all Tamil employees, complete with first-day-first-show tickets and a $30 Singapore dollar snack allowance. The management even called it a “stress management activity” – as if watching Rajini on screen is therapy (which, let’s be honest, it is). Meanwhile, SB MART in Singapore will shut its doors from 7:00 am to 11:30 am so fans can catch the show guilt-free.
Back home in Tamil Nadu, Uno Aqua Care has gone full fan mode. The company declared a holiday for all branches across Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, and Arapalayam, gifting free tickets to every employee. And because 2025 marks 50 years of Rajinism, they’re turning the day into a social celebration – feeding orphanages, old-age homes, distributing sweets, and joining anti-piracy campaigns to protect Thalaivar’s box office thunder.
A Madurai-based firm has joined the festivities, announcing a full-day holiday to avoid a flood of leave requests, while also organising charity drives in honour of the man who has defined mass cinema for five decades.
The hype? Off the charts. Advance bookings are already smashing records – ₹5.55 crore in domestic pre-sales (₹10.27 crore with block seats) and a jaw-dropping ₹37 crore from overseas markets just for opening day. Industry trackers are confident: Coolie is marching toward a ₹100 crore+ worldwide opening.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie promises high-octane action, whistle-worthy mass moments, and Rajinikanth in full superstar swagger. The cast lineup is equally power-packed with Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. While Kerala and Karnataka will get FDFS as early as 6:00 am, Tamil Nadu fans will pack theatres from 9:00 am onwards – a mini delay, but no dampener to the celebrations.
The film’s ‘A’ certification has sparked chatter among family audiences, but for fans, that just means Rajini is bringing back his raw, mass appeal in full force. And as if the hype wasn’t enough, Coolie will go head-to-head with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s “War 2” in a box office clash that could shake the Indian film industry.
But for millions of fans, August 14 isn’t about competition – it’s about worship. Streets will fill with cutouts, theatres will thunder with drums and whistles, milk will be poured over Rajini’s posters, and the air will be electric with chants of “Thalaivar Valka!”
Because this isn’t just a film release. This is a festival. This is history. This is Rajinikanth.
