A major controversy has erupted in the Tamil film industry, forcing Director Sreyas of Wunderbar Films Pvt. Ltd. to step forward with a robust public warning and a formal police complaint. Sreyas, who also serves as actor Dhanush’s manager, has repeatedly cautioned the public that all casting calls, offers, and communications attributed to him or the production house are “completely fake and baseless.”
The Imposter Problem and Public Battle
The issue stems from a persistent and sophisticated imposter scam where fraudsters are illegally leveraging Sreyas’s name, photograph, and the credibility of the renowned production house, which is owned by superstar Dhanush.
This is not a new issue; the Director has confirmed that he has issued similar warnings on 31st January 2024 and again on 19th February 2025, underscoring the severity and sustained proliferation of the criminal operation. Sreyas explicitly pointed out the fraudulent use of his image in conjunction with two specific mobile numbers: +91 75987 46841 and +91 917598 756841.
Recent Controversy Amplifies Urgency
The urgency of this warning was amplified by recent events involving television actress Manya Anand. During a media interview, the actress spoke about an individual—claiming to be Sreyas—who approached her for a role in a Dhanush film but requested a “commitment” or “adjustment,” a term widely understood as a demand for sexual favours (the Casting Couch).
The clip went viral, leading to widespread speculation. However, Manya Anand later released a clarifying statement, asserting that her original video was intended as an “awareness message” about fraudulent calls and that she was unsure if the caller was the real Sreyas. She expressed distress that the media had misrepresented her footage, and that her name was being used to defame the actor and his manager.
Serious Allegations and Criminal Action
While Sreyas and the actress have publicly stated that the incident likely involves an imposter, the nature of the demands reveals the insidious tactics used by the fraudsters. These scams are designed not only to trick aspiring artists into false hope but also to facilitate monetary fraud, elicit sensitive personal information, and potentially conduct Money Laundering or other criminal activities. The unauthorized use of a celebrity manager’s identity and a production house’s logo is a severe case of Identity Theft and Celebrity Defaming.
“I would like to reiterate that any casting calls, messages, or offers made under my name or under Wunderbar Films Pvt. Ltd. are completely fake and baseless,” the official statement maintains.
To combat this malicious campaign, Sreyas has confirmed that a formal complaint has been lodged with the police authorities. Law enforcement is now actively probing the matter to track and apprehend the culprits who are exploiting the dreams of vulnerable individuals and damaging the reputation of a major production company.
Aspiring artists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution, verify all casting opportunities through official channels only, and never transfer money or share personal sensitive information based on unsolicited calls or messages, particularly those originating from the numbers specified in the public warning.
