During the Indian 2 media interaction today, Shankar apologized for arriving late due to ongoing post-production work. The film explores the concept of “What if Indian Thatha existed in present times?”—a theme consistent with many of Shankar’s previous movies. While the first part of “Indian” primarily focused on events in Tamil Nadu, “Indian 2” expands its scope to cover other states as well.
The film features diverse families from various social classes, and Shankar believes it will be thought-provoking. He expressed gratitude to Kamal Haasan for initiating the “Indian” franchise. Notably, Kamal’s rigorous makeup sessions for the role of Indian Thatha set him apart from other actors. After 28 years, when Kamal returned for the makeup test, Shankar was thrilled to see him transform into the iconic character.
Advancements in prosthetics and makeup techniques have allowed Kamal Haasan’s portrayal of Indian Thatha to shine even more. During filming, Kamal spent nearly four days suspended from a rope, fully adorned in makeup and prosthetics. Additionally, Kamal has personally dubbed his lines in all languages for the film.
