The wait for Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much-awaited sequel Akhanda 2: Thaandavam just got longer. The makers have officially announced that the film, originally slated for a grand worldwide release on September 25, 2025, will now hit screens at a later date due to extensive post-production requirements.
The combination of Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu, celebrated for redefining mass action entertainers, has generated massive expectations ever since the project was announced. The film’s teaser already created waves across languages, amplifying anticipation among fans and trade circles alike.
In their official statement, producers underlined the scale of the project, revealing that re-recording, VFX, and the meticulous post-production process require additional time to achieve perfection. “Akhanda 2 will not just be a film; it will be a festival of cinema,” the team declared, promising an unprecedented theatrical experience.
Industry buzz suggests that with Pawan Kalyan’s OG, directed by Sujeeth, now enjoying a solo run in September, Akhanda 2 may find a new release slot in December 2025. This speculation gained momentum after The Raja Saab team, starring Prabhas, locked January 9, 2026 as its release date, leaving December as a prime target for Balayya’s big-ticket film.
Producer Anil Sunkara further fueled excitement with his remarks: “I have watched a few scenes in Akhanda 2, and trust me, the fans will go berserk in theaters. Balayya Babu has just killed it with his mass aura.”
Carrying forward the blockbuster legacy of its predecessor, Akhanda 2 is expected to be an intense action spectacle with breathtaking visuals, fiery dialogues, and Balakrishna’s commanding screen presence in a never-before-seen avatar.
With the makers promising an uncompromised product, audiences may have to wait a little longer, but expectations are that this wait will culminate in one of Tollywood’s grandest cinematic celebrations.
