The Indian film industry is witnessing the birth of a new era in mythological storytelling. Following the monumental success of the 2024 blockbuster HanuMan, director Prasanth Varma has officially commenced the journey of its highly anticipated sequel, Jai Hanuman. In a deeply symbolic and spiritual move, the film’s production kicked off with a grand Pooja ceremony at the sacred Anjanadri Betta near Hampi, widely revered as the birthplace of Lord Hanuman.
The event was a star-studded affair, bringing together the powerhouses of Indian production. The film is being bankrolled by the prestigious Mythri Movie Makers in collaboration with T-Series. Industry stalwarts including Bhushan Kumar, Anil Thadani, Naveen Yerneni, and Y. Ravi Shankar were present to grace the occasion.
The ceremony reached its peak when the “first clap” for the movie was given by Bhushan Kumar, while Anil Thadani officially switched on the camera. Adding a unique touch to the proceedings, Teja Sajja, the breakout star of the first installment HanuMan, stepped behind the lens to direct the very first shot. This symbolic passing of the torch highlights the interconnected nature of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU).
In a move that resonated with fans across the country, National Award-winning actor Rishab Shetty, known for his earth-shattering performance in Kantara, has stepped into the titular role of Lord Hanuman. Speaking about the project, Shetty expressed his profound gratitude, stating, “Jai Hanuman will be a divine film and a chance to express our devotion on screen.“ He emphasized that the film is not just a cinematic project but a “movement” that blends cultural roots with cutting-edge VFX.
Director Prasanth Varma shared his vision for the sequel, promising a “powerful blend of devotion and blockbuster energy.” The script was ceremoniously handed over to Varma by the producers, marking the transition from pre-production to active filming. With the blessings of the deity at Anjanadri Betta, the team is now set to begin regular shooting schedules soon.
Jai Hanuman is expected to set new benchmarks in Indian cinema, aiming to fuse ancient Indian ethos with modern superhero tropes. As the hashtag #RishabShettysJAIHANUMAN trends across social media, the anticipation for this “divine” spectacle continues to reach fever pitch.
