Leading Tamil comic star Santhanam has officially cemented his slot in this year’s competitive holiday box office, confirming that his upcoming high-concept zombie laugh riot, ‘Love Bite’, will make its theatrical debut this December. Produced on a grand scale by AGS Entertainment, the production house and the actor jointly announced the winter release schedule alongside the unveiling of a vibrant promotional poster that thrusts the protagonist into an absurd, undead-infested carnival.
The release announcement comes right on the heels of the film wrapping principal photography, locking in a post-production schedule tailored for year-end family audiences. Taking to social media to reveal the festive timing, Santhanam poked fun at the pandemonium depicted in the visual, writing, “The outbreak is serious. The people handling it? Not so much,” before promising that “your next dose of infectious laughter arrives with #LoveBite in theatres this December!”. The bottom corner of the poster prominently marks the release window with a neon-embossed “DEC RELEASE”, priming moviegoers for an unconventional seasonal clash.
The visual presentation gives fans their clearest preview yet of the sheer mayhem awaiting them on the big screen. Flanked by an eclectic team of panicked survivors wielding glowing cricket bats and struggling with aggressive infected townspeople, Santhanam stands front and center in a dust-coated, blood-stained jacket. The colorful local fair backdrop juxtaposed with grotesque zombie chaos signals an unapologetic, slapstick approach to a genre rarely attempted on this scale in Kollywood.
Directed and penned by Selvin Raj Xavier—who previously delivered the spooky entertainer ‘Conjuring Kannappan’—the venture pairs Santhanam with female lead Aparna Das along with an ensemble comic cast. The project is bankrolled by Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, and Kalpathi S. Suresh, while Archana Kalpathi handles creative producer duties alongside executive team members Aishwarya Kalpathi and Venkat Manickam. The theatrical run will be followed by a post-theatrical digital rollout on streaming platform Netflix, with music marketed by Think Music.
With December traditionally serving as a lucrative corridor for lighthearted blockbusters and holiday crowd-pullers, Santhanam’s ‘Love Bite’ positions itself as an unconventional counter-programming treat. Blending classic Tamil situational comedy, self-deprecating survivor tropes, and big-budget visual effects, the film is set to test whether laughs and apocalyptic scares can dominate the year-end box office.
